Exploring the 2025 Laver Cup Venue: Why the Chase Center Is the Perfect Stage for Tennis’ Biggest Stars

The lights of San Francisco’s Bay glisten against the night sky, but in September 2025, all eyes won’t just be on the Golden Gate Bridge or the city’s iconic cable cars—they’ll be fixed firmly on the Chase Center. Known for the fortress of the seven-time NBA champion, the Golden State Warriors, this modern coliseum will soon transform from a basketball battlefield into the heartbeat of world tennis, as the Laver Cup returns with its signature mix of drama, rivalry, and star power.
For a city that thrives on innovation, the Chase Center feels like the perfect canvas for an event that reimagined how tennis could be presented. Opened in 2019, the arena is a marvel of modern design: sleek glass exteriors, sweeping waterfront views, and a seating capacity of over 18,000. Yet, it’s not just about size—it’s about spectacle.
From basketball glory to tennis magic—Chase Center gears up for Laver Cup 2025. The inaugural edition in 2017 took place in Prague, Czechia, and in the previous year, Berlin, Germany, hosted the event.
What really made the organizers pick Chase Center as the venue for the eighth edition of this iconic event?
This is the first time that the Laver Cup is taking place on the West Coast of the US. While sharing his thoughts on the venue, Tony Godsick (Laver Cup chairman and TEAM8 CEO) said, “Chase Center is the perfect setting to stage the eighth edition of the event in a cosmopolitan city that loves its sport but has been without a top-level men’s pro tennis event for over 10 years.”
Chase Center gives Laver Cup fans a modern arena full of amenities, both inside and out. According to the Chase Center general manager, Donna Daniels, “Chase Center was engineered to offer an unparalleled, world-class fan experience that we are thrilled for Laver Cup fans from all over the world to enjoy. The thoughtful interior design emphasizes spacious concourses, inclined sightlines for excellent court views from every seat, and an art program that boasts over 200 museum-quality pieces.”
Do you know that the waterfront arena, designed by David Manica, has LEED Gold architecture meant to evoke feelings of the tech-forward Bay Arena? With an open concourse bathed in natural light, Chase Center has 44 luxury suites, 32 courtside lounges, and 60 theater boxes, ranging from ultra luxury to a more social “sports bar” atmosphere. Well, on top of that, we must not forget its 88x52 ft center-hung scoreboard and cutting-edge technology with a robust Wi-Fi network and sustainable smart building controls. Overall, the Chase Center is fully equipped to give the fans a lifetime experience.
The Laver Cup will be taking place over five existing spaces, each redesigned with signature touches from decor and lighting to elevated food and beverage offerings. Fans can also enjoy Bay Area-inspired food options across eight kitchens, from Sam’s Chowder House lobster rolls to Tony Gemignani’s award-winning pizzas and whatnot!
Chase Center is anchored by Thrive City, the home of the Laver Cup Fan Zone, and according to Daniels, “Its design allows for customization for major events, such as the Laver Cup, enabling immersive activations that engage fans and extend the event’s energy beyond the arena walls.”
Other than all this stuff, the Chase Center also offers a special treat for Laver Cup players. Located beneath the arena is the Oracle Performance Center featuring two full-size practice courts, a 4,000-square-foot weight room, a full-service kitchen, a team theater, a tricked-out locker room with a ceiling designed to mimic that of Oakland’s Oracle Arena, and guess what? It even has a barbershop for the NBA players? Perhaps the close-cropped-hair-dyed-silvery-white guy from Murcia, Spain, (Carlitos), will be thrilled to hear this.
How excited are the players, though,, to take part in this tournament, especially in ‘The Golden City’?
Tennis stars showcase their excitement to take part in the Laver Cup in San Francisco’s iconic arena
German star Alexander Zverev is one of the most decorated players in Laver Cup history. He has been part of all five of Team Europe’s victories. So, he has been to multiple venues.
Team Europe’s superstars recently got a chance to visit the Warriors’ state-of-the-art practice facility located just below the 18,000-seat arena. While sharing his experience on the same, Zverev said, “Having these courts underneath the stadium, it’s phenomenal. It’s a great training facility. That’s why the players feel so comfortable here. I already told them, if they need another five-on-five player, I’ll be here for the next few days.”
He claims the Laver Cup has never failed to put up an electrifying atmosphere, and he expects the same in San Francisco as well.
Tomas Machac, who has been named as an alternate in the Laver Cup, said, “It’s great to be here. It’s such a special opportunity to see the stadium and everything. I’ve watched them many times. Steph Curry is one of my favorite players. It’s a pretty nice setup.”
Taylor Fritz will be making his fifth Laver Cup appearance in San Francisco, roughly 500 miles from his Southern California birthplace. He’s also hoping US fans show up in force and cheer their home side across the finish line.
Just like Fritz, another American, Alex Michelsen said, “I can’t wait to wear this in San Francisco. I’m super pumped.” The homegrown rookie from Southern California will be making his debut at the Laver Cup, and he hopes fans will pack out Chase Center this time.
Argentine star Francisco Cerundolo has a special affection for this venue. He said, “I [have] really wanted to go to San Francisco ‘cause it’s my name. Really excited to go and play my best tennis for the team.” He is all set to help Team World reduce the gap with Team Europe with a title triumph in this edition. But which team do you think will leave the Chase Center with a broad smile on September 21?
