Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner Admit They Find “No Weaknesses” in Each Other

Dec 5, 2025, 12:40 PM CUT

In the ever-evolving landscape of men’s tennis, rivalries usually take years to mature. But with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, the story seems to be writing itself at breakneck speed. Their duels have already become appointment viewing - two prodigies pushing each other to the brink, two contrasting personalities caught in the same gravitational pull of greatness. And this week, the two young titans added a fresh chapter to their growing saga - one built not on tension, but on admiration.

Both these tennis stars will meet each other in an exhibition match in South Korea on January 10, i.e., just eight days before the AO. But before their faceoff, they gave an interview with Tennis Korea. During that interview, both Sinner and Alcaraz spoke about their rivalry and how they look at each other’s games. Alcaraz said, “Jannik and I have already faced each other on many big stages and played some intense matches. We've met in several Grand Slam finals, and I think we make each other stronger. With a long career ahead of us, I hope we can continue this positive rivalry that will help us grow together.”

While speaking about rivalry, the Italian said rivalries have always existed throughout the history of tennis, and he thinks both of them play a fundamental role in the appeal of the sport. So, he’s happy to have this rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz. Now coming to analyzing each other’s game, despite having a 10-6 edge in the H2H record, the Spaniard didn’t hesitate to admit, “Jannik and I have been on the tour since we were young, and we know each other's game perfectly. There's almost nothing to hide on the court. Jannik is a player with virtually no weaknesses.”

For a moment, it almost sounded like Alcaraz was talking about a mythical tennis figure. But that’s the unsettling truth for anyone facing Sinner: even a six-time Grand Slam champion like Alcaraz must walk into the arena with full armor. He also spoke about Sinner's incredible style of play mixed with speed and power before highlighting the challenge the Italian has thrown towards him till the very last moment in the 2025 season.

“Playing well against him isn't enough. You have to stay focused throughout the entire match, and there's no room for complacency. He's a player you have to give 100% from the first point to the last to have any chance of winning,” said Carlos Alcaraz. And guess what? The admiration wasn’t one-sided. Just days earlier, Sinner had offered a near-identical confession - one that completed the perfect mirror image.

“Alcaraz has almost no weaknesses. He is one of the best players on the tour, and perhaps the best. Matches against him are always huge challenges, but at the same time a pleasure. Each of our encounters is a new story, a new scenario,” said Sinner.

It was a rare moment in modern sports: two superstars, both at the peaks of their powers, acknowledging the invincibility they see in each other. No trash talk, no psychological warfare - just two players recognizing the Everest standing across the net.

Both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner were a class apart from the rest of the men’s game in 2025, with the two continuing their dominance on the ATP Tour. For a second successive year, the duo split all four Grand Slam titles between them. Insane domination!

The beauty of the Alcaraz-Sinner dynamic is that it’s still in its early chapters. The respect they share today may fuel legendary battles tomorrow. The fire they see in each other is the same fire that pushes them to raise their ceilings. With ‘Big 3’ once being to a generation, Alcaraz and Sinner are rapidly becoming the new one - two phenoms destined to collide again and again, each one refusing to let the other rest.

And if both believe the other has “no weaknesses,” then tennis fans can expect something extraordinary: a rivalry where the only way forward… is up. What do tennis legends have to say about their incredible rivalry and their sheer dominance in the ATP Tour?

Tennis legends weigh in as Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner redefine rivalry and dominance

The ATP Tour has seen countless rivalries, but few have captured the imagination of fans and legends alike quite like this one. As the year’s dust settles, some of tennis’s greatest icons stepped forward with their own take on the rivalry that is rewriting modern tennis. Their voices echo through locker rooms and press boxes, each adding weight to the growing belief that this showdown may stand among the greatest ever witnessed.

This year, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have met each other six times on the ATP Tour. But the most remarkable faceoff came at the Roland Garros final. In that match, the Spaniard defeated Sinner by 4-6, 6(4)-7, 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(2). Reacting to that epic faceoff, Novak Djokovic said, “At first, I started watching the match from a tactical point of view. But then I entered a phase of admiration. I haven't often felt that while watching other people play. There are maybe four or five matches in my life where I watched and said to myself, 'wow.’ It was an astronomical level of tennis.”

Everyone in the tennis world is amazed by their rapid rise. Recently, in an interview with MARCA, tennis legend Bjorn Borg also shared his thoughts about the Alcaraz-Sinner rivalry. He said, “It’s the best thing that could have happened to tennis. I don’t miss any of his matches against him. It will be interesting to see how the major titles are distributed next season.”

However, recently, Rafael Nadal looked a bit worried seeing their incredible dominance. In an interview with El Larguero on Cadena SER radio, he said, “We’re missing someone who can push them a bit more; someone who puts more pressure on them because, right now, they’ve created a huge gap with the rest.”

In a world of Federer-Nadal, we saw how Novak Djokovic stepped in to force these two to chase further excellence. Do you also think it’s a high for one of the players to step up their game and form the new Big 3? Just for the betterment of tennis…
