Summer 2026 is set to be a blockbuster season for gamers. From franchise reboots like Assassin’s Creed to ambitious new projects from Game Freak, developer giants are launching high-stakes titles across all major platforms.

Gamers face a packed schedule of stealth and RPG releases as the industry gears up for a record-breaking summer with these 10 most anticipated games.

Marvel's Wolverine

Touted as potentially Sony's first major superhero blockbuster, Marvel's Wolverine is scheduled for a deep dive in the upcoming PlayStation State of Play showcase event.

Marvel's Wolverine - Via: Marvel

Its September release date is right on the cusp of when summer ends and autumn begins. Set in the same universe as fellow Insomniac title Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the studio has already shown a penchant for delivering superhero video game titles.

The gameplay is what sets the two apart. While Spider-Man saves lives, Wolverine follows a more slash-heavy close-combat design, focused more on a character-driven storyline according to the previous trailers.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

One of Square Enix's bigger titles for Summer 2026, this game combines the excitement of an RPG, fantasy storytelling, and combat.

Players control Elliot and follow his journey through the world of Philabieldia, beyond the walls of the Kingdom of Huther, in search of answers. The game also features a fairy companion named Faie, who assists on the journey.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is set to release on June 18, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Windows, and has generated significant interest as a new franchise starts.

Beast of Reincarnation

One of the most intriguing releases for Summer 2026, this game is one of Game Freak's most ambitious projects after the Pokémon franchise.

Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan in 4026, the game follows Emma and her dog, Koo, while exploring a world full of monsters and corruption. This is an action RPG with fast-paced combat and character progression.

The game is set to release on August 4 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Phantom Blade Zero

S-Games is looking to crack open a new genre in the gaming industry with Phantom Blade Zero. CEO and Director Soulframe Liang is looking to create a new category called 'wuxia action games' and believes the kung-fu-heavy, action-based world of Phantom Blade Zero can achieve that.

With the fabled Kenji Tanigaki, the action director for the game, hopes are high for Phantom Blade Zero. A continuation of S-Games' Phantom series, the game puts players in the shoes of the protagonist, a former member of an organization called The Order, which wronged him, and he is now out to find out who is behind all of this before time runs out.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

The company behind titles like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Guilty Gear Strive, Arc System Works could be in for another hit with Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.

Featuring a 4v4 squad system, you can only control one character, with others assisting you through AI mechanics. While the 20-character roster at launch could be a contentious point, reception will largely depend on gameplay and multiplayer smoothness.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced

Set for a July release, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is generating quite the hype, mainly because Ubisoft has promised it is a true remake and not a mere reboot.

The gameplay and storyline are intact but enhanced through modern mechanics and an expansive campaign around Edward Kenway's journey.

Manual crouching is returning to the gameplay, there are more side quests, and the difficulty level of eavesdropping missions is toned down to make progression easier.

Gothic Remake

Interestingly, it was the Gothic universe and its success that is considered as an inspiration for the Witcher franchise. The remake is scheduled for a June release this year and has high expectations as the entire story comes full circle, with The Witcher 3 fans now waiting to see what the modernized Gothic looks like.

Alkimia Interactive is rebuilding the Gothic universe in Unreal Engine and modernizing the combat concepts, controls, and in-game quests while keeping the NPC behavior, faction identity, and difficult progression levels intact, elements that made Gothic what it is.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

While the game is already out on some platforms, Xbox and Nintendo users will get to experience it this June. Not to confuse Rebirth with the Remake, this version has a semi-open world and has exploration aspects added to the universe.

The game, which has already been released on other devices, has been well received. But this summer will mark the end of a long wait for Xbox and Nintendo users.

Rated one of the highest JRPGs in recent years, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is finally hitting Xbox and Nintendo devices, which should create hype for the game again.

Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters

An upcoming August release, Captain Tsubasa is a franchise based on the popular anime of the same name. The original anime was one of the most hyped and successful series of its era, and the games have been received very well thus far.

Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters is based on the 'World Youth' arc of the Captain Tsubasa anime universe and is coming at an opportune time, especially as the Captain Tsubasa anime has been modernized and republished for a new-age audience.

Blood of Dawnwalker

Releasing in September, Blood of Dawnwalker is gaining hype because it is being developed by a studio founded by former CD Projekt Red developers, who helped make the Witcher series.

The game changes the traditional dynamic by casting the player as a monster in this game's universe, forcibly turned into a vampire, albeit one who can still venture out in sunlight.

Its combat and unique storyline could interest some hardcore gamers, and it will be interesting to see how this game is received by audiences.

GTA 6 doesn't launch until November, and while the marketing ramp-up will start soon, meaning the entire summer could be spent hyping up the game, the title doesn't come in this category.

The same applies to Fable, as this Playground Games' much-anticipated RPG has been delayed to 2027, taking it out of our list.
